Repair example: tear in the leather
Note: To repair cuts and scratches in leather or holes in plastic, the repair technique used is adjusted according to the damage pattern.
To repair a tear in the leather upholstery of a car seat, the surface is first thoroughly cleaned and degreased. In order to subsequently create a base for the repair material, a thin repair felt underlay is inserted into the hole and glued to the cover leather from below with leather glue. The edge zones of the crack are adjusted.
The remaining fine crack in the leather surface is filled with tanning resin and can be embossed with a leather structure if required. The embossing accessories for creating structural patterns are included in the system equipment. The structural patterns of the leather and plastic structures created in this way can be reused and over time form your own structural pattern catalogue.
After finely sanding and degreasing again, the leather is coated with the Colorline leather dye and drying is accelerated with warm air from a hot-air gun. As a transparent abrasion protection, a leather cover is then applied in the desired degree of gloss (matt, silky gloss or high gloss). After the leather cover has dried, the leather repair is complete and the valuable appearance of the interior is restored.
